SAAMA – SAARISELKÄ JOINT MARKETING PROJECT 2011–2013
The aim was to increase recognition and attraction of Saariselkä


ISOMUS – INARI TOURISM AREA BRAND PROJECT 1 Jan. 2012–30 June 2013
The aim was to crystallise the image of the Inari tourism area, increase the number of
tourists and strengthen the competitiveness of the brand.


INARI FOREST SECTOR DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

The aim was to increase further processing of timber from Inari, to increase marketing and sales and primarily exports to Norway. The primary focus group of the project was mechanical woodworking entrepreneurs operating in the Inari municipality. 

SAAMENMAA (1 Dec. 2005 – 31 Dec. 2007)

The project focus group were Inari and Utsjoki villages and small tourism entrepreneurs located in them. The concept Saamenmaa (Samiland) was created on the basis of thematic routes based on local culture. Themed routes are marketed and made available to Finnish and foreign travel operators. The aim was to create opportunities for employment to entrepreneurs in the villages throughout the year, to increase interest in the villages as well as the number of visitors.

LOCAL EXPERTS FOR TOURISM PROJECTS 1 and 2
(1 Nov. 2003 –  Aug. 2004)

The aim of the project was to train multi-skilled tourism experts, who through their competence could find employment in a variety of duties during the tourist season. This also provided employment opportunities outside the winter season and employees were offered work throughout the year. 

Direct effects of the project have included an increase in multiculturalism and tolerance, more positive attitudes towards tourism, improved working life preconditions and utilisation of job seekers’ competence, prevention of social exclusion and improvement of the life situation of long-term unemployed people. 

INARI’S FISH PROJECT (15 Jul. 2002 – 31 Oct. 2003)

The aim was to develop a joint operating model between chefs, institutional catering cooks, fish processing plants and raw material suppliers.

KERTTU  – COLLECT AND PRODUCE PRODUCTS FROM
NATURE 1 and 2 (1 May 2003 – 31 Dec. 2005 and
21 Jan. 2006– 31 Dec. 2007)

The aim of the project was to create a well-functioning picker network, a preliminary survey of natural product end users and marketing as well as logistics including freight agreements, so that berries could also be offered, for example, as raw material for industry.

The project aimed to survey participants’ interest in cultivating natural products and finding opportunities, to introduce new entrepreneurs to the field and to increase knowledge and competence in the natural product field.

TOWARDS THE ARCTIC OCEAN EXHIBITION
(15 Mar. 2004 – 15 Aug. 2005)   

The aim of the Towards the Arctic Ocean exhibition was to stimulate visitors’ interest in making a self-organised trip to experience the varied aspects of the area in reality. The visitors were given varied background information about the culture, history, environment and tourism in the area.

ADVENTURE – DEVELOPMENT PROJECT OF INTERNATIONAL
YOUTH TRAVEL TO INARI (15 Jun. 2004 – 31 Dec. 2006)

The aim of the project was to make Youth Centre Inari into an internationally significant youth tourism destination focused on the arctic nature and the multicultural operating environment as a part of Northern Dimension of Tourism area.

TOURISM STRATEGY FOR KOLA MUNICIPALITY (2004 – 2006)

General aim of the project: To strengthen sustainable economic and social development of the Kola municipality through tourism. The private sector’s capability to produce tourism services was indirectly strengthened by increasing the local administration’s competence in tourism development.

e-SERVICES – NOTHERN LAPLAND’S e-WORK
REGIONALISATION PROJECT (29 Jun. 2004 – 31 Jan. 2007)

The aim was to create new jobs and entrepreneurship in northern Lapland through intensified marketing and networking of e-work, and to improve the operational preconditions of existing companies as well as to increase the use of information technology in companies.

THE RUSSIAN SECTION AT THE DESTINATION NORTHERNMOST EUROPE EXHIBITION (1 Sep. 2006 –31 Mar. 2008)

The Towards the Arctic Ocean exhibition was to be supplemented with a Russian section so that it would cover the whole of the Northern Dimension of Tourism project entity area. Inauguration of the Russian section was held on 13 February 2008 and it received some media attention, for example on Murmansk local TV.

POLARTEST NORTHERN LAPLAND (15 Sep. 2003 – 31 Jul. 2005)

Northern Finland’s position in car and tyre testing sector was strengthened. 
This project focused on marketing.

POLARTEST NORTHERN LAPLAND 2

The main objective was to increase the international recognition of northern Lapland as the best winter testing area with regard to its operating environment and auxiliary services.

NORDIC CULTURE FOR BARENTS FAIR 2010

The aim was to strengthen the Nordic cultural offerings at the 2010 Barents Fair. With the help of the Nordic Culture Fund, participants from three Nordic countries visited the fair.

INARIJÄRVI POST SAILING (1 May 2009 – 30 Jun. 2010)

The aim of the project was to make the region known through social media including services, such as map services, video and picture services, blogs and various web communities.

AIR TRAVEL PROJECT

The aim of the project was to promote the increase in regular and charter traffic at Ivalo airport.
Prerequisites for growth of regular and charter traffic include the development of the product range and the brand of the region to better meet the needs and terms of international travel operators. The project resulted in new connections to Ivalo airport, which brought more tourists to the enterprises in the region.
